Shipping & Delivery
Last updated:
This page explains how a Thread Well order travels from the moment you place it to the moment it reaches your door: how long we take to prepare and embroider it, where we deliver, what delivery costs (nothing), how long the journey usually takes and what to do if a parcel seems slow or arrives in poor shape. It applies to every order placed on threadwell.shop. If something here does not answer your question, write to support@threadwell.shop and we will reply within 24 hours on business days.
The short version, stitched plainly
- Preparing your order: 1-3 business days after you place it. This is the time we use to embroider your letters, name or design exactly as written in your Order notes and pack the piece.
- Where we deliver: the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. We do not ship to any other country at the moment.
- What delivery costs: nothing. Shipping is free on every order to those four countries, with no minimum spend and no code to enter.
- How long it travels: usually 7-14 business days in transit to the US, and 7-14 business days to Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
- Where it comes from: every order ships from the USA.
- If something goes wrong: email us with your order number and we will look into it with you and agree the next step.
1. From hoop to doorstep: how the timeline adds up
Your estimated delivery time is two numbers added together: our preparation time and the carrier’s transit time. We count business days, which means Monday to Friday, not including public holidays. An order placed on a Saturday evening starts its preparation time on Monday morning.
During preparation we read your Order notes, set up the letters or design in the thread colour you chose, embroider the garment, check that the result matches your note, trim and fold it, and pack it for the journey. Because every piece is personalised or embroidered to your selection, it does not sit ready on a shelf; the 1-3 business days are the time it takes to make your piece and hand it over for delivery.
Once the parcel leaves us, transit begins. The carrier moves it through its network to your local delivery office and then to your address. Transit time depends on distance, the carrier’s own workload, weather and, for parcels leaving the US, customs processing in the destination country.
| Destination | Shipping cost | Preparation | Transit (usual) | Total estimate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| United States | Free | 1-3 business days | 7-14 business days | 8-17 business days |
| Canada | Free | 1-3 business days | 7-14 business days | 8-17 business days |
| Australia | Free | 1-3 business days | 7-14 business days | 8-17 business days |
| New Zealand | Free | 1-3 business days | 7-14 business days | 8-17 business days |
These are estimates based on how parcels usually move, not guaranteed delivery dates. Most orders arrive inside the window; a few arrive a little sooner and, at busy times of year, some take longer. We cannot promise that a parcel will arrive by a particular day, so please order with plenty of room before a date that matters.
2. Free shipping, with no conditions to read twice
Every order to the United States, Canada, Australia or New Zealand ships free. There is no minimum order value, no coupon to remember and no difference in price between a single dad cap and a book club’s worth of crewnecks. At checkout you will see one free shipping method for your address; the total you see before you pay is the total you pay for the items and their delivery.
If you enter an address outside those four countries, checkout will not offer a shipping method and you will not be able to complete the order. That is deliberate: we would rather tell you up front than take an order we cannot deliver. If you are buying a gift for someone in one of our countries while you live elsewhere, you can still place the order, as long as the delivery address is in the US, Canada, Australia or New Zealand.
3. Planning around a date
A great many of our orders are gifts with a deadline: a bridal crewneck for a wedding weekend, a mama sweatshirt for Mother’s Day, a teacher apple crewneck for the first week of school, a pumpkin patch sweatshirt for an October photo, a family tree-farm set for December. Here is how to plan without stress.
- Count backwards in business days. Take the date you need the piece, step back 17 business days for the outside of the estimate, and order before that point if you can.
- Allow extra time in November and December. Carriers handle far more parcels in the weeks before the holidays, and transit can stretch. The same applies to some extent around Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day.
- Get the details right the first time. A misspelt name caught after the piece is embroidered means making it again. Our Cancel or Change an Order page explains the 24-hour window for corrections.
- Group orders travel together. If you are ordering for a grade team or a whole family, one order with every name and size in the Order notes is simpler to prepare and usually arrives together.
Example: you want a “Mrs. Bennett” crewneck for a wedding on a Saturday in mid-June, delivered to an address in Ohio. Ordering four weeks before gives the 1-3 business days of preparation and the 7-14 business days of transit room to breathe, with a little left over in case the carrier is slow that week.
4. Where we deliver, and to what kind of address
We ship to residential and business addresses in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Please write the address the way your local post would expect it, including apartment, unit, suite or floor numbers, and the correct ZIP or postal code. For a business address, add the company name and, if possible, the department or the recipient’s name, so the parcel does not wait in a mail room.
If you are unsure whether a particular kind of address can be reached, such as a P.O. box, a military address or a remote rural route, email us before ordering and we will tell you what we can and cannot do. We would rather check first than have a parcel come back.
Shipping straight to the person you are gifting? That works well. Put their name and address in the shipping fields and your own details in billing. If the piece is a surprise, mention it in the Order notes so nothing in the parcel gives the game away; our packing slips do not show prices.
5. Following your parcel
You receive an order confirmation email as soon as your order is placed. When your parcel leaves us, we send a shipping email. Where the carrier provides tracking for the shipment, that email includes the tracking details so you can follow it on the carrier’s site; carriers sometimes take a day or two to show the first scan after the label is created, so a blank page on day one is normal.
You can also look up your order status at any time on our Order Tracking page using your order number and the email address you used at checkout. That page also explains what each status means. If you cannot find our emails, check your spam or promotions folder first, then write to us.
6. Checking and changing your address
Before you pay, take a moment to read the shipping address back: name, street, apartment or unit number, city, state or province, and postal code. Autofill sometimes drops a unit number or uses an old address saved in the browser.
- Within 24 hours of ordering: email us with your order number and the corrected address. We update it before the parcel is handed over.
- After 24 hours but before shipping: write to us anyway. If the parcel has not left us yet, we will do our best to update it.
- After the parcel has shipped: we cannot change the address ourselves. Contact us and we will tell you what options the carrier offers; we cannot promise a redirect will be possible.
If a parcel comes back to us because the address was incomplete or undeliverable, we will email you to confirm the correct address and agree how to send it again. If the mistake was ours, sending it again is on us.
7. Orders with several pieces
Most orders ship in a single parcel. If your order contains several pieces, for example a book club’s six crewneck sweatshirts or a family’s matching hoodies and tees, it may occasionally go out in more than one parcel so that nothing waits longer than it must. You never pay anything extra when that happens, and the parcels may arrive on different days. If part of your order has arrived and the rest has not, check your shipping emails first and then write to us if anything seems to be missing.
8. When a parcel runs late or goes quiet
Most delays are temporary: a parcel waits for a connecting flight, sits in customs for a few extra days or is held at a busy sorting centre. If your parcel has passed the end of the estimated window in the table above, or the tracking has not changed for a long time, email support@threadwell.shop with your order number. We will look at the shipment with you, contact the carrier where that helps, and agree the next step with you, whether that is waiting a little longer, sending a replacement or a refund. Refunds follow the timing in our Refund Policy.
If the tracking says your parcel was delivered but you cannot find it, please look around your door, porch and mailbox, ask neighbours and any building reception, and check with your local post office, which sometimes holds parcels that could not be left safely. If it still has not turned up, write to us with your order number and we will help you work out what happened.
9. If a parcel arrives damaged, or a stitch is not right
We pack every garment folded and protected for the journey, but parcels are handled many times along the way. If yours arrives torn, wet or crushed, or if the piece inside has a fault such as a pulled thread, a loose stitch or a letter that does not match your Order notes, please keep the packaging and take a few clear photos: the outer parcel, the shipping label and the problem area on the garment. Email them to support@threadwell.shop with your order number and we will put it right. The process for returns and replacements is on our Returns & Exchanges Policy page.
10. Customs, duties and import taxes
Every order ships from the USA. Parcels to Canada, Australia and New Zealand cross a border and may pass through customs in the destination country. Whether any import duties, taxes or fees are charged depends on the destination country’s own rules and the value of the parcel; duties and taxes depend on the destination country. Our prices and free shipping do not include any such charges. If you have a question about what might apply to a parcel to your country, contact us before you order and we will help as far as we can.
Thread Well does not collect sales tax at checkout. The total shown before you pay is the price of your items with free shipping.
11. Weather, holidays and other things outside anyone’s control
Storms, wildfires, floods, carrier strikes and national holidays can slow parcels down for everyone. When that happens, the transit estimates above may not hold. We keep preparing orders on our normal schedule and will tell you if we learn about a delay that affects your parcel. If you are worried about a specific order, ask us; we would rather answer a question early than have you wait and wonder.
12. Questions about delivery
For anything about shipping, write to support@threadwell.shop and include your order number. We answer within 24 hours on business days. You can also browse the Help Center, read our FAQs or submit a ticket with the details of your question.
